Funding for the third NorReg year secured.

We are proud to announce that the Nordic Council of Ministers has approved funding for the Nordic Regenerative Tourism (NorReg) project in its third and final year of development.

NorReg was initiated in 2022. Its overarching objective is to develop and provide accessible, relevant tools and frameworks for Small and Micro-sized Enterprises throughout the Nordic Community, to support them on a pathway towards regenerative tourism practices.

From the start, the focus has been on the following activities:

  • Implementing First Mile initiatives into operations, as a start of a journey towards sustainability and regeneration

  • Citizen Science projects for visitors, to provide opportunities for immersion and contribution towards the place and resources enjoyed during the visit

  • Evaluation and monitoring practices for regenerative tourism to be able to follow and assess the journey towards regeneration

  • Policy support, to ensure that regenerative perspectives gain weight in strategy planning at all levels and among all stakeholders

  • Networking and community building

In its final developmental year, NorReg will emphasize growing the community and providing platforms for exchanges of ideas, access to and further development of tools and support mechanisms.

The Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic Tourism Working Group have supported our work from the start, and we gratefully acknowledge their contribution. The Icelandic Ministry of Culture and  Business Affairs is the owner of the project, and it is administered on their behalf by the Iceland Tourism Cluster, with current partners from Visit Tórshavn, Snæfellsnes Regional Park, Visit Lofoten, Destination Trekanten and Dansk Kyst og Naturturisme, and Visit Skåne.
